With a steaming mug of hot herbs in my quiet enclave, it is wisdom I seek.
Our myriad of relationships to everything and everyone is the road we’re on, of course y’all know this.
A dear friend of mine who I’ve known over 30 years came back home with my husband and I after a recent visit to California and stayed a spell with us in July.
Darlene and I spent hours reminiscing as there was lots of territory to cover for the book I plan to write about all our relationships with family, friends, music, the world etc.
It is always interesting as well as enlightening to go over events, when done in the spirit of understanding with the interest to learn from all those mistakes one makes out of ignorance…tryin’ to lessen the could’ve, would’ve and should’ve.
In order to grow from our experiences, we have to be willing to look from many different perspectives. A broader way to look is facilitated by love. Our caring to want to see the bigger picture enables us to have more compassion for all our fellow sojourners even if our paths do not seem to cross anywhere in time. In all our crazy busyness that makes up our lives we sometimes don’t notice all that cross our paths or even all that travels the same road as us.
Maybe our whole world is a road…the big road, made with a gazillion paths. The relationships to everything vary greatly, but the essential life lesson is the same, to love. We all grieve loss, celebrate victories, want success, and hope for a better world. It’s not what’s at the end of the road that counts, because all we have is now, then clearly it is the journey that matters…It’s love, despite it all.
Do you remember when we were all on a small stage dancing and nearly “butt” knocked each other off? That could’ve gone better!
