With a steaming mug of hot herbs in my quiet enclave, it is wisdom I seek.
To reduce and/or relieve suffering in the world, each one of us must take and be responsible for our part, of course y’all know this.
To advance our understanding is the quickest way to find our purpose of life, the happiness and joy that we must go inside ourselves to find.
A great sage can help us tremendously on our journey; two such men, the moral leaders, His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso and Desmond MPilo Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Southern Africa, share their wisdom in the essential BOOK OF JOY, brought to us grateful audiences by Douglas Abrams.
I listened intently to these two beautiful souls sharing from each of their own perspective, their mindful daily practices of joy, doing so with humor, respect, love, kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, generosity, humbleness and gratefulness, and it’s obvious that they practice what they preach.
These two warm hearts give plenty of sage advice and techniques for you to find the joy in your life and to live joy, even when there is so much suffering in the world. Our greatest suffering comes when we think we are separate, apart and solitary individuals, in our belief that we are our personality, as Dr. Hawkins said, “all pain and suffering arises solely from the ego and not from God”.
To make your life ever-lovin’-joy, start now, start where you are, start with yourself, ya gotta choose joy, and be willing to start!
My favorite new word is modita. Modita means recognizing and cultivating our humanity, practicing equanimity, love, kindness and compassion, a genuine concern for another’s well-being, our rejoicing in another’s good fortune. It is a far greater joy to develop our sense of “we”, “us”, & “our”.
OMG. did you see that obnoxious, excessively huge, gas guzzling glitzy bully maneuver it’s way into that old timers spot? Modita?
This has been a deb’s witty ditty on deb’s ditty blog.
