With a steaming mug of hot lemon water near my yoga mat, it is flexibility I seek.
If all the world’s a stage and we humans are puttin’ on a show, then we best make that show worthy of reruns, of course y’all know this.
Long before Shakespeare, our ancient ancestors characterized our world as a stage and humans as actors, various stock characters in a myriad of plot elements and themes, communicating drama, tragedy. comedy and satire through music, dance, conversation, song and gesture, in painted face and masks, in costumes or not, under light or not, on endless stage-sets.
Performers know the role they’ve chosen to throw themselves into, from the romanticism’s heroine, the melodrama’s hero, vaudeville’s clown, the slowly dying-of-an-extremely-painful-disease best friend, the singing nun, to the helpful sleuth, that they are just that, a role they are playing. The thespian may choose to recite perfectly the accompanying dialogue that’s been scripted, or improvise most brilliantly, however, all chosen words stay true to the demeanor and personality being concentrated and focused on, the role being played. All actions using perfectly the props that have been thoughtfully placed around, seemingly dictating and choreographing the story, on a theme-patterned background that feeds the selected plot.
“Oh, to have known again the tears of frustration, the agony of despair, the intense pain of guilt, the sorrow of loss, head to toe gripping fear, all drama that engulfs, ensuing darkness, dark, like night without stars, without moon…”
WTF? Seriously, enough of that run, of that old repeated programming!
Where exactly is the light, that lights up our world? It’s in the love we show, and that, is worthy of reruns.
What do you mean that wasn’t my best performance? Just because I missed my cue, tripped over my own feet, had on the wrong make-up & costume for my part, forgot my lines, all while appearing at a shady venue on stage effect?
This has been a deb’s witty ditty on deb’s ditty blog.
